CHR To Conduct An Investigation For Possible Human Rights Violation On Military Operations Vs Maute Group

The Commission on Human Rights is set to conduct an investigation on the possible human rights violation in military operations held by the Armed Forces of The Philippines against the notorious terrorist group Maute-Isis in Marawi City that lead to death of the considered pillar of the group Omar Maute and Isnilon Hapilon.

The CHR wants to make sure that there was no overkill happened. CHR said that based on the photos of the two terrorist leaders, the killing seem to be bloody and extreme.

CHR Legal Counsel Gemma Parojinog said that everyone has human rights , even the terrorists and their mandate is to make sure that the rules of engagement has been strictly followed and that no human rights has been violated. CHR also said that  the martial law is also needs to be lifted, now that there are no threats anymore to the people of Marawi and it is declared liberated from the terrorist group.

Meanwhile, NCRPO is now on high alert for the possible retaliation of the terrorist group now that their leaders has been killed. NCRPO Spokesperson PC1. Kimberly Molitas said that they are now monitoring the situation in the National Capital Region (NCR) and beefing up intelligence and anti-terrorism activities. The PNP is yet to release their statement regarding the planned CHR investigation.
