A 28-year-old Filipina maid who ran away from her sponsor in Ajman was arrested at the Dubai Airport.
The woman identified only with her initials M.A.K. reportedly tried to escape with AED 27,000, jewelries, and an iPad stolen from her employer
Ajman police received a report and acted immediately and nabbed the suspect within an hour.
Maj Ahmad Saeed Al Nuaimi, acting director of CID, said an Emirati national – identified in her initials A.M.K – lodged a complaint to the police.
According to the Emirati employer, his maid opened his safe and took her passport, cash amounting to AED 27,000, his wife’s jewelry and an iPad and escaped.
A team of CID officers was formed to launch an extensive search for the maid after receiving an information that the maid was in Dubai Airport trying to flee the country.
The Ajman Police with the help of their Dubai counterparts, caught her minutes before her departure.
The maid admitted her crime during interrogation and was referred to the prosecution.
Al Nuaimi warned the public to be cautious while dealing with domestic helpers and always keep their valuables in safe places.
Al Nuaimi warns that “Ajman Police have zero tolerance against those who try to tamper with the security of the country and the safety of citizens and residents in the emirate.”
