It is a rare situation that you can encounter a Filipino police officer in the Middle East but it is not impossible. A determined man said it was not easy to achieve it but through hard work and skills, he got the job.
A 44 year-old Filipino living in the United Arab Emirates since 2006, Johnray dela Cerna, Ajman First Police Officer, is now serving the United Arab Emirates police force for seven years now.
That’s the case of Ajman First Police Office Johnray Cerna, who has been living in the United Arab Emirates since 2006 and has already been four years serving the Abu Dhabi police force.
Cerna is from Zamboanga City and obtained a degree in Business Management at Sulu State College. He worked in the UAE as a salesman and a travel agency manager before becoming a police officer.
His ability to read, write and speak the Arabic language had helped him a lot for his eligibility to join the police force.
On September 22, 2016, he met with Consul General Paul Raymond P. Cortez at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.
Cerna vows to uphold the law and what is right. He also advised OFWs in the UAE to abid the law and follow the rules for a hassle free stay in the emirates.
