The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) denied the news circulating on Facebook that they are giving money to returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) upon their arrival at airports here in the Philippines.
On its official Facebook Page, OWWA said that they don’t have a program that simply gives cash to OFWs who arrived in the country. OWWA said it is fake news!
On its Twitter account, OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac response to a netizen that asked regarding the post that said OFW will receive P20,000 upon their arrival and an additional P12,000 if they decide to stay in the country for good. Cacdac denied the news and advised the public not to believe everything they see on social media.

He added that OFWs who want to avail programs of OWWA may contact their office or official social media account for more information of their programs for OFWs.
One of these programs is the Balik Pinas, Balik-Hanapbuhay. A non-cash livelihood support/ assistance to provide immediate relief to returning active or inactive OWWA member-OFWs displaced from their jobs due to war/political conflict in host countries, or policy reforms, controls, and changes by host governments; or were victims of illegal recruitment and /or human trafficking, or other distressful situations. They must have decided to return to the Philippines for good.
No doubt internet or social media is full of information but remember not all we read or see is true. The best part we can do is to double check the source of information if it is coming from a reliable source or website.
If not, then we should double check the information from concerned agencies. Almost all agencies or organization were private or public as an official social media pages where we can directly send our messages for clarification and questions.
